The Summer College office is comprise of dedicated, caring professionals who are devoted to making the program run smoothly and effectively for all students, faculty, and residential staff. Year-round, the program is administered by an Executive Director, a Program Manager, a Program Coordinator, and an Office Coordinator. During the summer, dozens of offices and departments around the University are involved in program operations.
Chris Cofer, Executive Director of Summer@Syracuse
Chris Cofer is the Executive Director of Summer@Syracuse. Chris manages the overall direction of Summer College for High School Students in collaboration with leadership from University schools and colleges. He also supervises programming, application processing, and recruitment.
Chris joined Syracuse University in April 2007 as the Director of Summer College for High School Students and became Director of Summer@Syracuse in 2011. He earned a BA in Creative Writing and American Literature from Northern Arizona University in 1996 and an MS in Outdoor and Environmental Education from SUNY Cortland in 2002. Chris is very involved in the Syracuse University community, sitting on two appeals boards and as a member of the Strategic Planning Undergraduate Enrollment Sub-committee. Chris was also a Facilitator for SU’s First Year Experience Shared Reading program.
Mary Collier, Operations Manager
Mary Collier is the Operations Manager at Syracuse University Summer College. In addition to managing the day-to-day functions of the Summer College department, Mary is responsible for the office’s overall efficiency as it relates to administration, budget, and staff.
Mary graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University’s College of Arts and Sciences with a B.A in Liberal Studies. She worked in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University before joining Summer College in May 2016. Mary has completed coursework as part of a master’s degree program in Cultural Foundations in Education at the Maxwell School.
Amy Kruse, Program Coordinator
Amy Kruse is the Program Coordinator at Syracuse University Summer College. She manages all marketing and communications for Summer College including social media, website content, email communications, advertising, and digital marketing. Amy is also the first point-of-contact for students, parents, and school counselors via phone calls and emails.
After graduating from Le Moyne College with BA in English, Amy moved to Los Angeles, CA where she lived for ten years. She held jobs at KCRW Radio, Nickelodeon Animation Studios, and the American Film Institute before returning to Central New York. Amy started working for Summer College in February 2018. She will begin her MS Communications program at S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in January 2019.
Gianna Mangicaro, Office Coordinator
Gianna Mangicaro is the Office Coordinator at Syracuse University Summer College where her responsibilities range from vetting applications and processing international visas to working with faculty to coordinate field trips and end events. Gianna also manages the Summer College website and designs the Summer College t-shirts, posters, and various print material.
Gianna graduated summa cum laude from Syracuse University Martin J. Whitman School of Management with a BS in Management and as a Whitman Scholar in May of 2018. While earning her undergraduate degree, Gianna worked at SU’s MakerSpace lab and assisted in teaching the Summer College MakerSpace & 3D Printing program for three summers. She was a Lead Facilitator for SU’s First Year Experience Shared Reading program and is a Wellness Champion for University College.
