About the Martin J. Whitman School of Management
Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management, ranked as one of the top 40 undergraduate business programs in the United States, offers undergraduate degree programs in accounting, entrepreneurship and emerging enterprises, finance, general management studies, marketing, and supply-chain management. The school is driven by four pervasive themes chosen to guide it into the 21st century: entrepreneurship, global competitiveness, leadership, and technology management.
The Summer College Management program's primary objective is to help you begin to develop the skills, the knowledge, and the professional orientation that employers demand of college graduates.
SKILLS include teamwork, leadership, technology, communications, and decision-making.
KNOWLEDGE includes a basic understanding of management, international business, and career options.
PROFESSIONAL ORIENTATION refers to recognition of management ethics and social responsibility.
As a Summer College management student, you enroll in the specially designed three-credit Introduction to Management course, which combines classroom discussions, readings, and seminars by guest speakers. The course will guide you to understand the art and science of management. You will learn about management's role in maintaining ethical, productive, and socially conscious organizational structures. You will heighten technology skills to locate and communicate information, and you will grapple with issues that challenge managers in a dynamic global environment as you work on a market analysis project.
For your second three credits, you may enroll in selected liberal arts or speech course.
