Online Program Overview

Information Reporting & Presentation: Engage, Persuade, and Succeed will teach students how to successfully communicate in college and professionally through influential engagement, persuasive presentation, and personal branding. Students will learn how to communicate confidently, effectively, and persuasively online, in person, and in writing at college and the workplace. They will also learn how to be successful when pitching ideas, applying and interviewing for jobs, expanding their network, and improving their professional skills.
This course includes information about how to give a personal pitch; create a compelling LinkedIn profile and resume; interview online and in person; research companies and organizations; prepare for an internship; make persuasive presentations like a TED Talk; and make well-designed slide decks, compelling charts, diagrams, and infographics for modern professional presentations.
Through this online class, students will learn how to use Zoom, MS Teams, BB Collaborate, and other virtual meeting platforms to communicate and work on virtual teams!
Students in this course will receive three college credits (as IST344: Information Reporting and Presentation).

- Understand convincing interviewing techniques
- Know how to effectively communicate as a professional online and in-person
- Understand professional and well-designed slide decks, charts, diagrams, and infographics

Live (Synchronous) Session Times: MTWThF, 1:00pm – 2:30pm EST

Grading System: A-F
Please note that this program is also open to Syracuse University undergrads. Class size is dependent on the number of enrolled students and the program capacity. Please email Summer College if you would like to know the number of students in this program.

This is an academically rigorous, college-level program. Students are expected to complete nightly homework assignments and actively participate in group projects. Students are expected to attend all synchronous classes every day, arrive on time, and meet all academic obligations. Free time will vary as each program is unique, as is the subsequent workload.
Students must attend live synchronous online sessions MTWThF, 1:00-2:30pm EST.

Virtual End Event
There will be a TED Talk style presentation by each student on the final Friday of the program.
Professor Bruce Kingma, Whitman School of Management and the School of Information Studies
Professor Kingma is the former Provost for Entrepreneurship and Innovation at Syracuse University. Kingma developed award-winning programs in entrepreneurship, innovation, and community engagement across the Syracuse University campus and Central New York.
